The route takes a gentle climb up from Blindburn Bridge, deep in the Coquet Valley, to the Border Ridge, where we follow the Pennine Way over Beefstand Hill and Windy Gyle.

The views up here are quite amazing on a clear day, where Kirk Yetholm, the end of the Pennine Way, can be seen along with other Border towns and the military ranges at Otterburn.

We then descend via Hazely Law and join a bridle-path that takes us up over Hindside Knowe, crossing 'The Street', an old drovers' road, then a relaxing stroll up the valley bottom back to Blindburn Bridge.
