This walk starts from the former cotton-spinning town of Bollington near Macclesfield, Cheshire. It soon leaves the town behind to follow the River Dean to a striking weir which cascades down over rocks and under a bridge on the track. From the outskirts of Rainow the route crosses the river to rise to the Saddle of Kerridge and on to White Nancy. Here there are extensive views across Cheshire to Merseyside and the Welsh hills, north beyond Manchester and across the eastern Peak District. It is now a short way down into Bollington to complete a lovely afternoon walk.
