A grand moorland walk, different in each season. Peaceful and invigorating, enjoying extensive views (the whole world if you're a Northerner) and visiting the famous Lord's and Simon's Seats, together with the little-known Rocking Stone.

Bardon Moor is an Access Area and may be closed for some days during the grouse season. No dogs are allowed. For details phone 01756-710533 / 710227.

We did this walk Sat 28th of July 2012. Great walk, great views, great weather, what more can you ask for!! We started the walk at Bolton Abbey car park, which does not open until 9am and the price is now £6 per car. Nice to wander around after doing the walk. Barbara, Jeff, Kathryn & Millie the dog

Walked this on 4th June 2012. All directions and way-marks just as described. We parked at Bolton Abbey which adds just over a mile each way to the walk instead of at the starting point the Cavendish car park (further along the same road). Whole walk is firm underfoot as the contributor described. Do note way mark 7 carefully. The obvious path is to continue straight ahead at Simon's Seat, but sure enough to the left is a pathway leading down through the rocks which is not so obvious, however you soon see the well trodden tracks and cairns. Thanks for a great walk. ! Steve.
