A very delightful country walk including a stretch along the Grand Union Canal at Braunston, which was and still is, the hub of canal life. After leaving the village the walk takes to open fields with some outstanding views. It reaches the interesting old village of Staverton, ideal place for a well-earned stop and a look around, before returning by a different route onto the canal at Braunston, where there is the opportunity to visit the pubs or shops on the towpath.

May 2009, Walkingworld: please note this walk may be tricky to navigate in places. We recommend people use a compass (or GPS) with their Walkingworld map. A 1:25 000 scale OS map might help too, especially if paths are overgrown. We will do our best to update any of the guide where necessary.

The GPX positions have now been tweaked so they should be more accurate now.

Walked 7/5/21. From WP9 to WP15 the paths and markers are virtually non existent. There are tracks round the edge of fields but not where they should be. A grid ref finder on your phone is useful and map and compass essential. The route back to Braunston is very easy to follow

Enjoyed this walk however between 11 & 12 the directions lack some clarity and could not be followed easily the large gap crossed over a farm track but did not lead to a footbridge. I followed the farm track which passed to the right of a golf course but gave up and headed back for Braunston.
