This is a very peaceful circular walk starting in Suffolk, but most of the route is through the Essex countryside. The route takes you along traffic-free country lanes, woodland paths, through fields and Byways. There are some great views to be had and even the enclosed paths are a delight to walk along. In the Spring expect to see an array of bluebells in the woodland sections. There are a few hills as you walk through the undulating countryside, but nothing too strenuous.

All the paths were clear (Aug 2022) apart from one or two field edges that have some long grass along the edge. At the end you have a choice of two pubs in Bures, The Three Horseshoes Inn and The Eight Bells.

Peaceful is certainly the word for this excellent and varied walk - it's such a quiet rural area. I did it for the second time today - bluebell time, so still a bit muddy in places. And (for the 2nd time) got a bit disoriented passing by Clees Hall, but the GPS mapping finally sorted me out. Suggested time of 3 and a half hours seems accurate, allowing for the odd break or detour. Will probably do it again, in high summer hopefully.
