Burnt Hill - Ashampstead Common - Upper Basildon - Burnt Hill

The countryside to the east of Yattendon and Ashampstead in the Royal County of Berkshire (and the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) is rich in woodland. This walk is largely spent walking through these woods, with the emphasis on Burnt Hill and Ashampstead Commons. If you enjoy woodland walking with a small amount of road- and fieldwork, this is for you! Starting on Burnt Hill Common, the walk heads onto Ashampstead Common before reaching Upper Basildon via the interestingly named Sodom Lane. There then follows some road-walking before heading back into the woods at Stubbles. A different part of Ashampstead Common is later visited before returning via a 'challenging' stretch of Burnt Hill.
