From the beautiful beach at Cala San Vicent, we begin by climbing the western flank of Punta Grossa before taking the coastal footpath that will lead us northwards through pinewoods, passing the lovely secluded rocky bay of Aqua Dulça. From here we continue following our path above the coastline before descending to the exposed foreshore at Cala d'en Buscar. Soon afterwards we begin a long, steady climb away from the shoreline to reach the Pla de ses Formigues, close to the track to the Caves of Culleram. Now we begin to climb again as we scale the range known as S'Atalaia and eventually reach a vantage point offering the most amazing panoramas over San Vicent, Cala San Vicent and the island of Tagamago. Here we tackle a short but steep scramble up to the summit of Talaia San Vicent and are rewarded with even more stunning coastal scenery, as well as much burnt forest away to our north-west, a grim reminder of the terrible forest fires of 2011. Returning to our vantage point below, we now begin an easier phase with a descent to the timeless countryside around the little hamlet of San Vicent. Our walk concludes with a lovely ramble through the unspoilt countryside, ablaze with colour in spring, that leads us back to the beach at Cala San Vicent and our start point.

Walk reviewed in December 2018. I have made one minor track alteration and a few text changes. The walk remains an absolute stunner even if quite hard work. Strongly recommended. Jim Arymar
