Begin this circular walk by strolling through the pretty Caldy village (photo on right), then along bridle paths up and across the National Trust heathland to the hilltop viewpoint to gaze over the village below, the Dee estuary, and the Welsh hills beyond. Then onward to the old Mariners Beacon followed by a walk down to the Wirral Way, and then along it to finish your walk along the Caldy's sandy beach.

The walk is suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and everyone in-between. Excellent for dogs but hopeless for wheelchairs or buggies. As you walk through Caldy near the end of the walk there are refreshments and toilets at several pubs. There are bench seats at intervals in several places on the walk. If it has recently been raining the paths may be muddy with numerous puddles and boots are recommended, otherwise stout trainers will be fine. This is an alternative route to walk 7637.

1/8/2018 - Andrew Edwards

This was a nice walk and we attempted it on 7/1/2018. A bit muddy underfoot in some parts due to the combination of rain and frost breaking up the ground. Lovely views on the top made the climb worth it. Some points on the navigation It is very easy to get it wrong between points 6 and 7 with many paths crossing each other. When you see the clearing, you need to bear right and walk along a small embankment to get to the 2nd part of the woods. Between points 10 and 11 The "Moby Dick" pub is now Hickory's Smokehouse restaurant, so you need to turn by there. An enjoyable walk all in all, best wait for a clear day to take in the views
