Capel Curig- Clogwyn Mawr - Llyn Coryn - Crimpiau - Llyn Crafnant -Capel Curig

Crimpiau means 'fine, high ridges' and the whole walk is enjoyable. The views across to the highest mountains of Snowdonia are spectacular, as well as the jewel of Lyn Crafnant. It is one of the finest walks of the area and still fairly quiet. I have not yet met another person at all on the ridge.

Most of the walk is in open terrain although a small part is in woodland. Part is marshy, so strong waterproof boots are essential, but the whole walk is an exhilarating experience.

It is also possible to include the circuit of Llyn Crafnant (Walk 4201) if you have enough energy.

We loved this walk. The weather was good so the views were amazing! It is definitely strenuous and wouldn’t have managed well without our sticks. The ascent near beginning between 2 and 3 is extremely steep and would not have liked to attempt it if wet. With lunch up the top of Crimpiau and a diversion to have tea at the cafe by the lake it took us something like 5 1/4 hours. 3 hours 11 minutes is not realistic. Unless you’re really rushing and not stopping allow much longer. Our moving time was at least an hour longer.

We enjoyed this walk - views were excellent, navigation straightforward & not too strenuous. Lakeside cafe provided a welcome piece of cake & pot of tea. Unexpectedly for mid week there was quite a crowd on the summit of Crimpiau.

A good day out for a FIT pooch. The short legged variety will need help over stiles and occasional rocky bits, but the latter are all avoidable.
