A quiet walk taking in the Trent bank as it meanders north. The walk passes though some industrial archaeology of a busy 1920s Wharf, then to follow the meanderings of the Trent as it approaches Sutton-on-Trent. The Church of St Mary in Carlton is a Grade 2 listed building, built in 1851 to replace an existing medieval church, from which the doorway still remains. The return leg from Sutton to Carlton is along Carlton Lane; whilst accessible to traffic it is no longer a through road and tends to be quiet.
