The Castle Eden walkway is a walkway between Sunderland and Stockton. It was a railway line built in the 1870s to link the Durham coalfields. The walk follows an old ancient country track that goes through the medieval villages of Swainston and Embleton. These villages have long since gone and only bumps and furrows in the landscape remain.

The walk then follows the green lane with some great views over to the north York moors and then joins the line heading south back to where we started.

Very easy to follow with good tracks and scenery. Really enjoyed with our dogs.
