For those people who do not wish to tackle The Great Ridge, this is a good alternative, with extensive views across to Kinder and down across the Hope Valley. Starting from the village of Castleton the walk quickly rises past the rear of Peveril Castle, through Cave Dale to Mam Tor. Here the views are magnificent, particularly along The Great Ridge and Rushup Edge. The return leg gives far-reaching views down the Hope Valley. A really satisfying walk which also passes three of the area's famous caverns, which are well worth a visit.

Excellent walk. Between WM04 and WM05 you don't reach the public bridleway sign until going through a further three gates not one as mentioned.
