In the wonderful rolling countryside of Northamptonshire, this walk starts from Charlton and visits the pretty village of Farthinghoe, with its attractive stone cottages and Newbottle, that is now just a manor-house, a church, a vicarage and a cottage. It visits Hinton Airfield, from where light aircraft are flown and parachute-jumping can often be seen. There is a lengthy stretch of minor road-walking, which affords very pleasant scenes in a peaceful, rural area. On tracks, footpaths and bridleways, the route takes in pastures and woodlands, crosses brooks and streams and ascends fairly steep gradients that offer wide-open views over superb landscape.
