This walk through pleasant Cheshire countryside is balanced, in that after a short stretch of lane it crosses pastures before going round Pennsylvania Wood, from where it climbs the sandstone hills for which the area is noted. It then drops to further pastures leading to a lane back to the Cheshire Workshops. The pastures can be heavy going in winter, as is usual, but the hillier sections are usually dry and they offer outstanding views in clear weather. As well as The Pheasant Inn there is a wide choice of refreshments in the Workshops.
