A waterway walk which is local for Chester folk, along well used footpaths or hard paths all the way. It takes a circular route, outbound past a delightful village duck pond, along pleasant footpaths, across meadows, alongside agricultural fields and rural county lanes and pavement. The return route makes use of a long distance footpath for most of the way, including long sections following the Shropshire Union Canal. A short length of the long distance path may be muddy in winter or after heavy rain. You're unlikely to meet any farm animals but may pass close to fields with horses. There are no stiles to climb, although portly walkers may find a couple of the snickets a bit of a squeeze. There are a variety of kissing gates; all are in good order and the walk is level all of the way. This walk includes instructions for walkers from moored canal boats.

The route is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and difficult for buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best in winter or after heavy rain, and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts.

The walk starts and finishes at an excellent pub and if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.

Also on your route is a hidden country pub where you can stop for indoor or outdoor half-way refreshments and the toilet. There are no other picnic tables or bench seats on the route, although you will pass two more pubs alongside the canal tow path towards the end of the walk.
