There are no magnificent views on this walk, but it's an excellent route close to the city for a little gentle exercise with quiet county lanes and nice rural scenery. At the beginning the paths are hard surfaced with all of them are quite well used and the route is easy to follow. In late summer you are likely to find along a later path nice, juicy, blackberries, but the downside is it may be a little overgrown in parts with nettles and brambles. There are two stiles and a mixture of old and new kissing gates, all of them is reasonable condition. Some footpaths pass alongside fields with crops, but none have any animals, however the golf course footpath (see photo on the right), which is the most picturesque section of the walk is likely to take you past some golfers. Most of the route is quite level.

The walk is probably most suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. It is excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled such as strong trainers or stout shoes, and except for the short section with a few nettles and brambles there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there are no facilities except for the toilets and refreshments at the pub near the start and finish. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal and a drink there, an excellent finish to a good walk.
