This walk around Chester starts near the station and takes in the canal and the river, as well as the city centre and the significant Roman remains. As a circular walk it can be commenced within the city centre (see Access). The shopping centre with the famous Rows are visited, along with the cathedral.

The Rows are centred on an offset crossroads, which you approach from Bridge Street. The cathedral can be visited from Northgate Street, where the mellow-bricked town hall and its sculptures also stand. For details of what to see in Chester it would be difficult to improve on the second link in the Additional Information section. For the best street map untick the 1:25 000 option.
