This is a very committing walk in remote and inaccessible countryside. Please don't attempt it without the proper gear - strong, supportive waterproof boots are a must. Good navigational skills and equipment (map and compass) are essential, as are the skills to be self-sufficient; - although the forestry sections are accessible, paths on the open moorland vary between ill-defined sheep tracks and non-existent. If walking this in winter, be prepared to get wet, whatever the weather. There are many river crossings - some are impossible to do without wading when water levels are high.

If that hasn't put you off, this is a fantastic walk, a good solid day in the summer or a comfortable two days at any time of year. The views and the solitude are simply amazing. We walked for six hours on Day 2 without seeing another person at all.
