Colchester Town - Castle Park - High Woods Country Park - River Colne - Colchester Town

This is very pleasant circular walk starting in Colchester Town Centre where you can browse the many interesting shops before passing through the beautiful Castle Park with its magnificent castle.
After a short walk passing a ten pin bowling centre and The Range, you arrive at High Woods Country Park with it's array of woodland paths and a visitor centre. You can explore more of the country park if you wish, but return to the visitor to resume this walk. After exiting the park, the return journey consists of a lengthy section beside the River Colne and a few roads before returning to the town centre.
All paths were clear (August 2023) with just a few not showing on the OS map within the country park. There are plenty of places for refreshments, but if a pub stop is desired there are plenty within the town centre to visit after the walk has been completed.
