The walk uses canals and paths, with a little bit on the road. You will pass near to an ancient burial chamber, The Bridestones, after which the main shopping centre in Congleton is named. Wear good boots and carry waterproofs, as with any hilly area the weather can change. When we did it, as you can see from the photos, the weather was cold, frosty and with a bit of snow on the ground; a great day out. The Coach and Horses welcomes walkers, but please take your boots off.

Completed this walk on a warm sunny day. Great views from The Cloud but the 2.5km section from Waymark 15 to Waymark 18 - initially along Dial Lane and then Reade's Lane - is extremely difficult and unsafe with no roadside verge or pavement to walk on!! Too much fast traffic and sharp bends.

Did this walk in warm early autumn sunshine and it was lovely with scenic views all across Cheshire and beyond from the top of The Cloud. Some of the instructions were a bit vague particularly at Waymarks 13 & 14 as per the previous comment.

A lovely walk with splendid views,a few steep climbs but well worth it in the end. We parked on a bit of waste ground next to the station just over the bridge on the right. At waymark 6,the stile has been replaced by a gate. The shortcut to Gosberry Lane can be found as a left fork shortly after passing through the wooden fence at waymark 13. At waymark 18 you turn left up some wooden steps to get to the disused railway and then you turn left along it. The height gain for this walk is 1100ft,not 656ft as stated.
