This is a walk and an area to which you will want to return again and again. It is not surprising that it provided the inspiration for a large number of the paintings of John Constable, including 'The Hay Wain', recently voted Britain's second favourite. You will pass the very scene en route as well as the dry dock and Valley Farm which figure in two more of his most famous works. This walk complements the others on Walkingworld, listed as Constable Country 1 and 2 (Walks 3210 and 3209).

Superb walk. Highly recommend with easy to follow directions. Many many thanks as this was our first outing to Flatford Mill and walking into it as opposed to driving to it proved to be absolutely perfect. Thank you both Brian and Anne. Best Andy

I completed this walk at the weekend. It's very enjoyable and relatively easy going. We managed to cross the river too early but this didn;t spoil the walk at all. So just a word of advice, cross the river at Flatford Mill, not at the first bridge you pass!

Lovely walk. Easy to follow directions. We did in Feb 2017 - I imagine it gets busy in the summer.

I have just walked this route while on holiday so I would like to correct the access info. The local council has now adopted the car park ( in Jan 2014 according to a local person) and installed 'Pay n Display' machines charges are up to £4 for all day parking.

This is a near-perfect walk. As Brian & Anne say, it is one you will want to return to again and again. Walked and updates entered August 2009. Adrian (Admin)
