Corfe Castle is one of the most popular villages in Dorset for a holiday destination or day visit, thanks to its spectacular castle ruins standing high above the rooftops. This walk takes you on a circular walk to the west of the village, under the castle ruins and up along a high ridge for breathtaking panoramic views of Poole Harbour and surrounding Purbeck Hills.

The route eventually descends from Knowle Hill and heads through the tiny village of Church Knowle. The route follows paths through livestock fields and joins an old road over Corfe Common, with its numerous burial mounds and excellent views towards the castle ruins. Once you arrive back in the village of Corfe Castle the route detours over to Corfe's second castle, which most visitors do not know exists! The only remains of this motte and bailey castle are two earthworks, but these are quite substantial and played a key part in the history of the main castle nearby. The return route to the car park has an optional detour to a second viewpoint which looks down on the village from a lofty path.
