Starting in Coughton, the walk passes Coughton Court to proceed through a National Trust area, following the well-marked Arden Way. The walk passes through varied terrain: pastureland, lanes, plantation areas and woods, affording some beautiful views. Without being too strenuous, there are a couple of short ascents. At Netherstead, one can see the half-timbered manor-house from the road. The route becomes a bridleway as it skirts through Newlands and Alne Wood, which at times offers beautiful views over the rolling countryside. The woods section of the walk can be muddy, depending on recent weather. The final leg is about 2km of unclassified country road, enabling one to stride out before crossing a ford and returning to the start.

An excellent walk but my walking companion and I came across a navigation issue that may need clarification, particulary if you don't take the ilustrated version of the guide. At point 10 in the guide it may be appropriate to state that you should turn left once through the gate to the two kissing gates in the corner of the field. This may prevent walkers making the same mistake as my companion and I, ie continuing to walk on the same line. We had to retrace our steps across the field once we had realised our mistake!
