Starting from a popular pub, this circular walk is along good level footpaths for most of the route, taking you through new parkland and an old golf course, both having a maze of footpaths with the parkland paths not yet on the map. The Countess Country Park has been created through very scenic wetland close to the hospital, and after this for some variety, a small section of urban locality has been included as it has a children's playground. Just across the canal the route takes you through the old, abandoned Mollington Grange golf course which has a maze of undulating scenic footpaths made for golf-carts and this time most of them are on the map. The return route is along the excellent Shropshire Union Canal surfaced and multi-user tow path followed by a short section of the Millennium Greenway trail, then back to the pub. There will be lots of walkers with dogs but no farm animals, no stiles, and one kissing gate. The standard map is hard to follow, so in the 'Related Downloads' section of this walk you will find a pdf file which gives you an enlarged map of the first half of the route with waymark locations added. This walk includes instructions for moored canal boat walkers.

It is probably most suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but poor for buggies. The route is possible for adventurous wheelchair users with a small team of assistants. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but trainers will be best, and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there are numerous bench seats but no refreshments or toilets except for those at the pub at the start and finish, which also has picnic tables on the lawn. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
