Choose the right day and this short walk, partly lying within the Howardian Hills AONB and North York Moors National Park, offers distant views from the trig point on Beacon Banks over to York and into West Yorkshire. To the north the hills above Wensleydale including Addlebrough can be clearly seen from the same point, with the White Horse of Kilburn and Sutton Bank in the foreground. If you like alpacas, as many people do, just after Beacon Banks you will pass the alpaca farm sometimes featured on the Channel 5 TV Programme called 'The Yorkshire Vet'.

Did this walk on Remembrance Sunday. Peaceful, crisp day, with great views from Beacon Banks. Worth noting - at Waymark 6 is an 'honesty' café in the garden of the old crossing keepers house. Teas, coffee, soft drinks, biscuits, and, in the summer months, cakes!! Well worth taking a break. There's a toilet too!!
