At the start this circular walk is along footpaths which are well used, but at the end only occasionally used. The route starts with a long and very gently uphill walk, with a good variety of scenery. You'll enjoy some magnificent panoramic views from the halfway ridge at the top of the hill.

Most of the route is along bridle paths and footpaths with very little road. At the start there are only bridal gates; but towards the end there are mainly stiles, and some are not in the best order. In winter, sections of some paths are likely to be quite muddy. You're unlikely to come across farm animals, and at the end is a long walk alongside a main road, sometimes with no pavement.

The walk is therefore most suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best and avoid wearing shorts as you may have close encounters with some nettles.

On your route there are no facilities except for those at the pub at the start and finish. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
