In our opinion, thus is one of the best routes to the summit of the Brecon Beacons. A gentle ramble with streams, woods and fields is followed by a steady climb. Then the spectacular traverse of the NE face of Cribyn before climbing to the highest point of the Beacons and returning along Cefn Cwm Llwch.

Mostly easy walking with well-defined paths but is graded Hill Scramble because of the altitude.

We did this walk in June 2013 and took the narrow path round Cribyn at waypoint 5. However there had been a couple of landslips and in two places the path had slipped away. In our view this now makes this route too dangerous and we would advise against using this alternative.

Very Enjoyable walk and will recommend this without hesitating.
