This pleasant walk starts at Kingswear with a ferry crossing of the River Dart, before visiting historic Dartmouth with the world's most famous naval college. We then visit the first of Dartmouth's two castles at Baynards Cove, the setting for many period films, including the 'Onedin Line'. Out into the country then and up to the ancient hill-fort, before walking county lanes and bridleways to join the coast path and return along this beautiful area of coast. We then visit the second Dartmouth castle, which was used in conjunction with one across the river at Kingswear to block access to the river by means of a massive chain.
