This walk starts in the village of Dinas Powys to the west of Cardiff. From the centre of the village, the walk quickly moves out into country lanes and open fields. A wide variety of wildlife including kestrels, buzzards, pheasants and foxes may well be seen, as well as sheep, cows and horses in some of the fields.

The halfway mark of the walk is reached in the smaller village of Wenvoe, where there is a good local pub and Beefeater chain restaurant for those who did not bring a picnic. The route heads back to Dinas Powys through more open countryside and through some shady woods, alongside a gurgling brook.

There should be no problem taking a dog on this walk, although it should be kept on a lead when near livestock. Walkers should not be put off by the first climb from Waymark 1 to 2, as this is the only long climb (approximately 65m) on the walk.

Both villages Dinas Powys and Wenvoe contain pubs serving food and local shops / post offices where food can be purchased.
