This is one of the few waymarked routes allowed in the Doñana natural park; it takes in the Laguna del Jaral, pine forest, sand-dunes and sea strand habitats typical of the Doñana area - a great opportunity for those interested in birds, butterflies and plants to enjoy this unique bioculture on foot.

The Doñana National Park is closed to casual access to preserve the unique ecosystem and wildlife. There are only two routes into the National Park proper, both available by 4x4 drive vehicles and both need to be booked well in advance. The southern route is only available from the local cooperative, Doñana National Park Tours. It takes you on a 35km round trip starting at the Acebuche Visitor Centre, going along the beach through the pine forests and marshland areas, returning over the mobile sand-dunes to the centre. It take 3.5 to 4 hours and costs €25 per person. Reservations should be made well in advance to avoid disappointment; telephone 956-430423. The northern route also takes about four hours and is available from a number of companies; it goes from El Rocio Village along the pilgrims' trail La Raya Real to the Jose Antonio Valverde Visitor Centre. You can get more information on these routes from www.discoveringdonana.com or www.donanareservas,com .
