This is a flat walk that combines river, lanes and villages, with a visit to a working windmill as its main objective. The lively streets of Downham Market contrast with those of quieter Denver and the high banks of the Ouse with their spacious views. There is a pub halfway round, while meals and afternoon teas may be enjoyed at the mill.

We completed this walk on Sunday 11th February. The walk is an absolute cracker, full of interest, great views, changes in terrain and a great way to spend a couple of hours. The pub at Denver Sluice is now closed. For the free parking at the Fire Station search for PE38 9JU - Priory Road.

We visited Denver windmill late May 2013 and found it was closed. Apparently there are new owners and it may reopen later in the year. Meanwhile, the cafe at the golf club opposite is open to the public and serves tea, coffee and snacks at very reasonable prices.
