The County of Gwent (Monmouthshire) is one of great variety. These five walks have been planned to introduce you to the wealth of variety on offer. This walk explores the countryside in the middle of the county. The route takes you right round Llandegfedd Reservoir and will be of great interest to birdwatchers. Walk 4158 starts from Usk and after following one of the county's biggest rivers, continues up Cwm Cayo before dropping down to visit Usk Castle. Walk 4159 explores one of the ancient woods to be found in the Wye Valley. Walk 4160 goes to the north of the county to sample the delights of woods, water and mountains. Walk 4161 visits the south of the county to spend time watching birds along the coastal and wetland areas along the estuary.

I organise a dog walking group where we discover parts of Wales that perhaps you wouldn't go on your own. Its a monthly walk and we did this walk in July 2014. The walk was to say the least an adventure (in a bad way) It was extremely over grown where we all had scratches cuts from the trees/bushes etc. The gates we came across were all padlocked so had to carry the dogs over the gates. Surly locking gates is against the law ? You do not see much of the Reservoir either. Very disappointing and a bit embarrassing as I organise these walk.
