Starting off in the lovely Peak District village of Edale, this route follows public footpaths to Barber Booth just to the south-west and then starts its ascent along a track called Chapel Gate and up onto the ridge that takes you east up to Lord's Seat and an ancient tumulus on the very top. The route then follows a ridge down to the road and gains height to the ancient Iron Age fort on the summit of Mam Tor. A trig column marks the highest point at 517m and the views are tremendous in all directions. After exploring the ancient history of this hill, the route descends to another great viewpoint by Hollins Cross and returns along a bridleway back to the car park by Edale Station.
