This is a part of the Forest of Dean not often walked. There were a number of drift mines in this area but most are now closed. Pass one still working, Cannop Drift Mine.

DO NOT ENTER ANY OF THE DISUSED MINES.

Wimberry Slade is very interesting from a geological view, with much to see. Notice the stone sleepers on the tramway down through the valley.

I was expecting a lovely quiet walk in the woods! Unfortunately the area is 'infested' with mountain bikers. You have to be on high alert all the time as not to collide with bikes and the dogs had to be at heel all through the walk,disappointing.
