We begin by walking through the pretty little mountain village of El Berro before dropping down into the valley and taking a scenic route away from the village. Soon we are rambling through cool pine forests before emerging into open country with the most stunning views east over Gebas and the enormous reservoir. Descending to a ruined farm we have the choice of continuing down to the Mariposa Bar and Adventure Centre and on to the hermitage, returning by the same route or continuing to follow the course of a water canal dug to supply a dam that was never finished. Passing through a tunnel, we continue along the old watercourse until we reach open farming country full of almond and olive trees and later rejoin our outward route which we follow back to El Berro.
