El Hierro: Top of the Island

This is the easiest of our walks on El Hierro. The potential monotony of the first section on a dirt road is relieved by the views across La Restinga and Tacorron. We only saw one vehicle on our walk along this road. But the return route over the highest peak has spectacular views that emphasise the steepness of this island. At the highest point (5,000 feet) you are barely two miles from the sea north and south.
