This walk follows the Nellburn Path, then goes through one of the many well-preserved woodland strips in the New Town. You get a glimpse of the old village of Livingston Station, now renamed Deans, before the highlight of Eliburn reservoir.

Walking in the New Town is better than it might first appear. Dating from 1962, it incorporates the Colin Buchanan-style segregation of traffic and pedestrians, meaning there are underpasses to cross the main roads. Another feature of the planning is the retention of many shelter belts of mature trees. This walk includes one of these between Waymarks 9 and 12.
