This circular walk is a lovely and very popular walk of contrasts, along long valleys through bright and cheerful woods, (and a dark and gloomy wood), alongside the streams and babbling brooks of a Nature Reserve, and then round a municipal golf course. Finally, back along the other side of the brook to the car park.

The valley is long and narrow and numerous paths meander through it. You can abandon this walk at any time and explore them instead; it is very difficult to actually get lost. For a complete contrast, half of the walk is round a municipal golf course where the footpath guides you over freshly trimmed grass with wide open views. (The garden ornaments in the photo are alongside the golf course.)

You will be walking mainly on firm paths, but some woodland sections may be a bit muddy after rain. There is a short very steep section at the end of the walk where wheelchair users will need strong assistance. This is a longer alternative to walk 7561.

Good for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs; and several kissing gates are now extra-wide for wheelchairs and buggies. There are no stiles, but buggies and wheelchairs may find the going over the golf course a bit challenging, especially after heavy rain. All of the paths are excellent so good trainers will be fine footwear. There are refreshments and toilets available at the golf course and perhaps at a mobile van with seats and tables parked on the fairway. There are other picnic tables and bench seats scattered along the route. The standard map is hard to follow, so in the 'Related downloads' section of this walk you will find a jpg file of an enlarged map of the track with waymark locations.
