From the village of English Bicknor, follow a valley and cross fields before entering the Forest of Dean. Descend to walk along the banks of the Wye, climb to Yat Rock and return through fields above in Coldwell Woods.

This walk has clearly not been checked by the submitter for a long time. Apart from there being no East Car Park the path through Coldwell Woods starts OK but deteriorates with fallen trees and watery quagmires (even in September!) until it narrows and virtually disappears leaving one feeling totally lost, not knowing whether one has gone too far or not far enough. Obviously no maintenance has been done on this path for years. We eventaully escaped over a barbed wire fence, through a field to the path that point 11 should bring you to. There is a path shown on the OS map further south on the road you reach from the cafe that should take you to point 11.

The east car park at Symonds Yat no longer exists, it is now just a grassy area with a 'Symond Yat' sign on it! Brilliant walk on a beautiful sunny day. Lunch down by the river at Rose Cottage Tea Rooms.

Excellent walk thank you - couple of observations. At step 10 the East Car Park no longer exists - long left to grow over (very confusing) - also of course ticket machine - but stone plinth still there and path goes off to the left of it. And at step 11 yes no stile (had to climb fence) but bearing left leads to another new fence which I climbed (with barbed wire) when I should have headed for opposite gate then turned left maybe. Otherwise brilliant thanks !!
