Starting from the picturesque village of Epwell and walking on quiet roads and lanes to the small rural village of Winderton, then on to the edge of a much larger setting, Upper Tysoe, before skirting Compton Wynyates on the way back to Epwell, the route passes through some breathtakingly beautiful countryside. Although beginning in Oxfordshire, most of the walk is over the border of Warwickshire and includes or nears places of historical interest. Compton Wynyates for instance, is a wonderful Tudor house, where Henry Vlll used to stay; it is now home to the Marquis of Northampton. Tysoe has Royalist connections in the civil war in 1642. From the top of Winderton can be seen the tall tower of Brailes Church below, called the Cathedral Of the Feldon, built in the 14th Century from profits of a thriving wool trade. The entire walk is a delight from beginning to end in an area of outstanding beauty.
