Starting from Ettington to visit Pillerton Hersey, the walk begins opposite the church and takes the road that runs through the centre of the village. Built prominently of the local red brick, the houses are varied in size and design and interestingly individual and very attractive. The surrounding countryside is marvellous and there are often fine and far-reaching views, the route passing several outlying farms. It skirts Pillerton Hersey and wanders through quiet pastures, pockets of woodland another delightful feature near and far.

Email received today from the Community Paths Officer:

Thank you for making an on-line fault report to the Warwickshire County Council Rights of Way fault reporting system. I have inspected the paths your member reported as being ploughed/cropped. The bridleway to the east of the road (289486 to 293487) was found to be level and firm. The line of the path is apparent, as it runs parallel to a nearby field boundary. the crop was starting to emerge, and it is to be expected that the farmer will remove the crop from the surface of the bridleway once it has grown some more. Further east (to 294487), the bridleway is on an enclosed grassy track. The bridleway to the west of the road (285486 to 289486) is within a pasture field. The footpath (274489 to 280497) runs across two arable fields that have recently been harrowed and drilled. The surface of the path is level and firm. There is a waymarker post at each field boundary, and the next field boundary can be seen from each field crossing. Again, the farmer would be expected to remove the crop from the surface of the path once it reaches sufficient height to make walking difficult. No further action has been taken at this time. Please thank your member for taking the time to make a report. If your member has any further issues, they can contact us direct either via the fault reporting system, or by emailing us on paths@warwickshire.gov.uk, or by post to Countrside Access, Unit 11, Montague Road, Warwick, CV34 5LW.
