On reaching the forest, this walk passes through all ages of Scots pine from mature open woodland to regenerating young saplings. The walk returns via open moorland with spectacular views of the Cairngorm Mountains. Often birds of prey can be seen circling in the sky at this point. This area of land is being specially managed by Scottish Natural Heritage to help encourage the re-growth of these native pine trees within the Dell Wood National Nature Reserve.

Dogs may be taken on this walk but it is NOT suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
