Eyam, Coombs Dale and Stoney Middleton

The walk is to the south of Eyam and it begins by using disused quarry tracks almost as far as Stoney Middleton. These have been extensively replanted with trees and have an abundance of flowers and butterflies in summer. From there it climbs through meadows but the terrain is firm throughout. Towards the end of the walk the Boundary Stone is passed, still with the six holes in which money was placed during the plague of 1665 in payment for food and medicines. On the outskirts of the village are the graves of some of the villagers.

Excellent walk, uphills not too bad.. This is Derbyshire and this walk is one of it's best, nearly every step throws a different view many places to sit and contemplate over tea. Wander around Stoney Middleton for a few minutes as well as Eyam.

This was our first walk on a visit to the Peak District in July 2017. Some uphill sections which were quickly overcome, the views were superb and thoroughly recommend the Moon Inn at Stoney Middleton for a spot of lunch. Good lunchtime specials and sandwiches.

Walked this on 3rd March 2013. All open and walkable. Clear instructions, good views, and I was surprised at how mud free it was in comparison to other areas of the Peak District. The Moon Inn at Stoney Middleton can be recommended, and is on the route.

Enjoyed this very easy to follow walk yesterday (5/4/2009) - nice views and lots of history. One point worth noting: don't park in the pay & display car park - if you take the next turning right (literally yards from the main car park) there is another one behind it - and this one is FREE!!
