Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track, this circular walk is along footpaths which are not often used. Once away from the town most of the paths on this walk are not often visible, but all of the scenery is rural with a good variety of views. As you can see from the photo - eventually there are some excellent views of the river. As most of the fields you'll be crossing on this route contain crops you won't be coming across many farm animals. The stiles, kissing gates and footbridges are old but in reasonable order and although most of walk is flat, very little of it is level. Depending on the season you test this walk, the return route taking you down the long and rutted track from Crew Hall farm to the river can be either overgrown or muddy, either of which makes walking difficult. The fields of crops can be also be hard work to cross; hence the moderate grade. The walk includes instructions for river boaters.

The walk is probably most suitable for older teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Okay for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. The best footwear will be boots; but you may be okay with stout walking shoes in summer. If there has recently been heavy rain the paths could be muddy with numerous puddles so boots would be essential. Avoid wearing shorts as there are nettles, thistles and brambles to do battle with and taking some small secateurs would be very useful. On your route there's the odd bench seat by the river, and there's a toilet black at the end of Farndon bridge. There are toilets in the pub at the start and finish. If you book in advance you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a challenging walk.
