It starts off at the former old fishing village of Footdee (known locally as 'Fittie'). After strolling past old fisher cottages where a water pipe is still to be found on the street, the walk continues alongside Aberdeen Beach. After crossing the River Don the walk continues close by the river, then re-crosses at the Brig o' Balgownie. By way of contrast a riverside walk through wooded Seaton Park leads past St Machar's Cathedral and on to the historic buildings of King's College. After a short town section the walk returns to the seaside.

A fascinating walk with interest at all points from fishing village, along the Esplanade, through the parks and in the old town and university. To enhance the atmosphere even more read the, often gruesome, detective fiction books by Stuart MacBride who sets his action in Aberdeen.
