The walk goes north from Freshfield Station on what is now a national cycling route, which it leaves for a track opened to public use by Natural England. This leads to the rear dunes where a fence is followed to one end of Dunes Path North. This is marked by blue-topped posts but a difficulty is met when it meets dunes that have almost over-topped trees. I found a way round, not far, not too hard, and I was very quickly back on course to Fisherman's Path and the return. While most of the walk is easy and on substantial tracks, you will have to consider whether you want to get round the one problem which is caused by the natural movement of the dunes.
