This walk is classed as moderate because of the steep ascent. Bryn Arw has "three summits". The official one is at the south end of the ridge, the highest point has an apology for a cairn, a few stones and a stick, whereas the most obvious cairn - twin cairns - are the most northerly. The ridge gives access to views of the Black Mountains, as well as the Sugar Loaf and the Skirrid.
