This is a walk through beautiful countryside that does not have its fair share of visitors. Although there are steep climbs and descents, there is also an easy canal stretch to finish the walk and the attraction of a steam railway along part of the route. From the highest points there are views across the county to Shining Tor, while there are extensive woodlands. The old-fashioned railway station and its nearby pub with no real road access are added attractions.

Walked this route yesterday. A lovely route and instructions still pretty much spot on. A few stiles are a little worse for wear but no problems encountered other than loads of mud but that just adds to the fun. There is now a café, Hetties, right by the car park. I believe it has good reviews but we didn't try it, although the breakfasts smelt very tempting. Thanks for a lovely route

Great walk, varied landscape. Good pint at the Black Lion. Good views.

A superb walk with splendid views. A few climbs to tackle, but a highly recommended walk. The only update is at waymark 27. When you cross the stile you now enter a series of horse paddocks with a further 2 stiles to cross before reaching the stile in the corner by the wood.
