This walk offers nice views across croftlands and the coastline near Shader, although some difficulties exist such as boggy terrain near Steinacleit and a stretch of shingle bank between Shader and Ballantrushal. Although this walk leads along roads for part of the route, traffic is very light in this corner of Lewis. It shows croftlands and a crofting township at close quarters, as well as coastal scenery, typical of the west coast of the island. The two ancient monuments along the route are not as well-known as the Callanish Stones or the Carloway Broch further west, but are no less in merit than these.
