This is probably the finest section of the Ayr Coastal Path and is recommended to be walked from south to north. Starting at the pretty Glenapp Church, you will quickly gain height on a good farm road that takes you over open moorland. This wild expanse of rugged landscape is quite captivating. You will soon head for cliffs that overlook Loch Ryan and more than likely you will see the Stranraer to Larne Ferry and in the distance, Ailsa Craig. This unique outcrop of rock has provided granite for curling-stones over the years.
